Make a trip to LACMA this weekend and enjoy art, film, tours, talks, and more. Friday evening marks the start of the film series Street Clothes: Contemporary Costuming in New Hollywood, demonstrating how designers are key to bringing to life contemporary characters. Kicking it all off, Midnight Cowboy at 7:30 pm stars Dustin Hoffman and Jon Voight, followed by cult flick Cisco Pike at 9:40 pm. More new film happens on Saturday during Two Sides of a Costume Designer series, highlighting the creative range of several costume designers over the decades. See the beloved Mary Poppins at 5 pm and then the adaptation of Ray Bradbury’s classic Fahrenheit 451 at 7:30 pm, both with costume designs from Tony Walton. On each night one ticket gets you into the two screenings.

Around campus, visit exhibitions such as Playthings: The Uncanny Art of Morton Bartlett, Close-Up and Personal: 18th-Century Gold Boxes from the Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert Collection, and LACMA Collects: Scenes from the Great Migration for look at subject matter you may not have come across before. Gallery tours over the weekend also allow visitors to explore more of the museum, including Modern Sculpture: Brancusi to Chamberlain at 1 pm on Saturday and Latin American Art at 3 pm on Sunday.

Sunday, children and parents are invited to Andell Family Sunday to discover Japanese swords and images in Art of the Samurai: Swords, Paintings, Prints, and Textiles at 12:30 pm. At 1 pm, join the talk on Larry Sultan: Short Stories from Here and Home moderated by D. J. Waldie in the Bing Theater. And in the evening at 6 pm at Sundays Live cellist Tina Guo and pianist Bryan Pezzone perform at the weekly, free classical concert series.
