Art + Technology Lab Proposals Due

February 10, 2015
Joel Ferree, Art + Technology Lab Program Manager

Proposals for our Art + Technology grant program are due this coming Monday, February 16. We're entering the second year of the Art + Technology program, and we anticipate bringing at least another half dozen or more artists into the Lab to develop experimental projects over the course of the coming year. The grant program is open to artist projects that engage emerging technology and provides grants of up to $50,000 per project plus in-kind support as appropriate through our technology advisors, including NVIDIA, DAQRI, Accenture, SpaceX, Google, Gensler, and independent advisors from UC Berkeley, JPL, and LACMA's curatorial staff.

Those interested should think beyond the traditional exhibition gallery presentation; we welcome conceptual and performance projects, projects that unfold off-site or online, and exploratory work. Extensive experience working with technology is not required; we are interested in projects that take risks, experiment with ideas, materials and methods coming from science and technology, and provide a way for the public to partake in the process, through talks, demonstrations, crowd sourcing, presentations of prototypes, and the like.

Please read our RFP for all of the details. Questions? Write to lab@lacma.org.
