On this love-filled holiday weekend, LACMA’s the place to be. Friday starts it all with off with two films from the new series Return to Oz: Costuming the Big Adventures of 1985. In The Goonies, written and produced by Steven Spielberg, a group of seven friends embark on a journey to save their neighborhood. Right after, Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure marks the first feature film from director Tim Burton. See more from Academy @ LACMA on Saturday during Two Sides of a Costume Designer. A true sci-fi classic, Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner is set in 2019 Los Angeles and stars Harrison Ford as a type of bounty hunter. Then, Fight Club, based on the novel by Chuck Palahniuk, is the violent and twisting cult favorite from director David Fincher. On each night, one ticket gets you into both films.

During your visit, check out a few exhibitions that are about to close. Delacroix’s Greece on the Ruins of Missolonghi features a monumental painting from leading French Romantic painter and Art Deco Textiles focuses on designs full of brilliant color palettes, angular forms, and futurist concepts. Learn more about the collection during free docent-led tours covering the museum. On Saturday at noon, also be sure to visit the Art + Technology Lab for drop-in sessions based around the very high-tech EEG AR: Things We Have Lost project dealing with brainwave technology and augmented reality.
