LACMA Is Open Today! Welcome the New Year with Art

January 1, 2019

Start 2019 off with art! LACMA is open regular hours today. We're also open tomorrow, Wednesday, January 2, from 11 am to 5 pm. While this particular New Year's Greetings poster is not currently on view, an amazing array of graphic design work is on view in the Ahmanson Building, Level 2, in West of Modernism: California Graphic Design, 1975–1995. This exhibition is part of LACMA's Graphic Design Initiative, an interdepartmental project established in 2014 to integrate graphic design into larger narratives of international art and design history. Check out this selection of posters and pubications that showcase the intense ideological debates and technological changes from 1975 to 1995.

Be sure to check out other exhibitions on view, from beautiful works spanning nearly two millennia of Sri Lankan art to Outliers and American Vanguard Art to Rauschenberg's masterpiece The 1/4 Mile or 2 Furlong Piece (1981–98).
