This Week at LACMA

May 28, 2023

Coded: Art Enters the Computer Age, 1952–1982 examines the origins of what we now call digital art and is accompanied by an exhibition soundtrack.

The tracks we chose to accompany Coded trace the evolution of computer music, including the earliest attempts to nudge these machines into audible action, such as Lejaren Hiller’s Illiac Suite for String Quartet, the first piece fully composed by a computer. Read more about the soundtrack and visit this week to experience the exhibition!
