This Week at LACMA

October 15, 2023

Stone is the most vivid and enduring material in which to find shapes and marks that look like something else. Eternal Medium: Seeing the World in Stone highlights the material’s conducive subjects, geographic origins, physical properties, and the technical virtuosity demanded by such a challenging material.

Visit LACMA this week to experience the exhibition and join us on Wednesday, October 18, for In Conversation: Alice Minter and Rosie Mills as the curators discuss the history of natural stone effects in art. A post-event book signing of The Art of Stone: Masterpieces from the Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert Collection will take place following the talk.
