Visual Storytelling In the Classroom

January 30, 2024
Jenny Ziomek, Art Education Specialist for School and Teacher Programs

Visual Storytelling: Drawing, Comics, and Animation is a new online course for K–12 teachers that arose from a multi-year collaboration between the LACMA Education department and a group of dedicated teachers at Charles White Elementary School. Illustrated as a comic, this course will give you accessible tools, approaches, and resources for integrating visual storytelling into your curriculum. At the end of each section, we invite you to join the narrative and share your own experiences and ideas with us. Here’s a sneak peek:

We are so excited to share our collective takeaways with you so that you can more easily integrate drawing, comics, and animation into your classroom lessons. Read the comic in its entirety by signing up for the free course on Teachable. After completing it, we encourage you to extend your learning with our other new online course, An Introduction to Arts Integration.
