This Week at LACMA

June 9, 2024

With some 200 objects by artists, war photographers, and filmmakers as well as soldiers from across several continents, Imagined Fronts: The Great War and Global Media explores the intermingling of mass media and the artistic imagination.

This week, get an in-depth look at the exhibition at an Imagined Fronts Study Day on Wednesday, June 12, featuring presentations and conversations about how artists and the media imagined war, the impact of racially and ethnically diverse combatants, and much more. On Thuesday, June 13, you can also experience the propaganda films of the exhibition at a special screening, Sound and Silent Film: The Immersive Propaganda of Imagined Fronts, hosted at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures.

On Saturday, June 15, hit the streets with cultural historian Josh Kun, who will lead a unique Sunset Boulevard bus tour inspired by by ED RUSCHA / NOW THEN, exploring the relationship between the boulevard's architecture and its rich history of live music with a specially crafted playlist, co-presented with the Getty Research Institute.
