This Week at LACMA

July 28, 2024

This week, explore the art of Ed Ruscha—including his early works, installations, and ceaseless photographic documentation of the streets of Los Angeles—in the exhibition ED RUSCHA / NOW THEN and engage with the work of the iconic American artist at a series of workshops and events for all ages.

Edition 13 of L.A. Print explores innovative printmaking processes inspired by Ruscha's artistic legacy, highlighting artists and printmakers who specialize in non-toxic or non-traditional materials: Beyond the Press: Material Innovations in Printmaking, on Wednesday, July 31, is a captivating panel discussion featuring Tava Tedesco, Kiyomi Fukui, Amanda Burr, and Carmen Argote, who will explore the intersection of contemporary printmaking and eco-conscious practices.

Families can join Pop Up Art Workshop: Iconic Environments on Friday, August 2, part of our series of exhibition-based drop-in activities; for August's workshops, visitors of all ages will explore ED RUSCHA / NOW THEN, discuss how to transform their environment and language into visual art, and make their own postcard-sized artwork. Andell Family Sundays is also back on August 4 with Ed Ruscha Loves L.A., where young visitors will get inspired to make their own art in a workshop led by LACMA teaching artists.
