Over the past two decades, Simone Leigh has created works exploring questions of Black femme subjectivity and knowledge production. The exhibition Simone Leigh, now on view, offers visitors a timely opportunity to gain a holistic understanding of the artist’s complex and profoundly moving work.
This week, join events presented alongside the exhibition. On Friday, September 6, an Art & Meditation session will provide a slow art-looking excerise in the galleries followed by meditation. No meditation experience necessary; instruction will be given. Docent-led tours of the exhibition will also take place on Thursday, September 5, and Saturday, September 7.
On Sunday, September 8, don't miss an evening of art and poetry. Poetry in Color: Art and Words in Conversation will present readings inspired by works on view across exhibitions, including Simone Leigh, ED RUSCHA / NOW THEN, and more, by poets Nyarae Francis, Michele Lorusso, Durmerrick Ross, and Vanessa Tahay, hosted by Matthew Cuban Hernandez and Jasmine Williams.
