This Week at LACMA

November 10, 2024

Now on view through January 5, 2025, Magdalena Suarez Frimkess: The Finest Disregard is the first museum exhibition of L.A.-based and Venezuelan-born artist. Trained in painting, print-making, and sculpture in Venezuela, Chile, and New York, Suarez Frimkess’s most recognized works are made in clay.

Create your own written works inspired by The Finest Disregard on Tuesday, November 12, during a creative writing workshop guided by author Carribean Fragoza, author of the 2022 PEN Award finalist Eat the Mouth That Feeds You (2021). The exhibition is particularly suited for creative reflection given the elements of history, popular culture, and everyday life woven throughout Suarez Frimkess’ work.

You can also take a moment to relax and reflect during Infinite Possibilities: An Evening of Awe and Wonder on Thursday, November 14, exploring the exhibitions Josiah McElheny: Island Universe and Mapping the Infinite: Cosmologies Across Cultures with a series of gallery-based activities and a meditative outdoor walk led by meditation teacher Mariko Tu.
