This Week at LACMA

September 1, 2025

Featuring two video installation pieces coupled with painted and printed works, Zheng Chongbin: Golden State is now open. The exhibition explores water, light, and movement through abstract forms and distorted views of California’s natural landscapes.

On Saturday, September 6, watch Willie Ruff's Tony Williams in Africa (1973), presented alongside a live performance by the Don Brown Collective and a post-screening conversation with Crenshaw Dairy Mart's Ashley Blakeney and drummer Don Brown.

On Sunday, September 7, get to know Native Voices, the nation’s premier Native American theater company, at a reading of a newly commissioned work in celebration of LACMA’s new David Geffen Galleries. Rooted in memory and place, the performance will weave vivid storytelling with Indigenous cosmologies and the layered histories of the land we inhabit.
