As we prepare for the grand opening of the David Geffen Galleries, members have a very special opportunity to get a rare peek behind the scenes of bringing the building to life at Art 101: Installing the David Geffen Galleries on Tuesday, December 16. At this online presentation, guests will hear from assistant director of art preparation Julia Latane and have the opportunity to participate in a Q&A session.

Members also have the opportunity to preview Collecting Impressionism at LACMA this week from Thursday, December 18, through Saturday, December 20. The exhibition, which offers a surprising narrative about the people and artists who shaped LACMA, interrogating how trends in “taste” inform the museum’s collection, opens to the public on Sunday, December 21.

Families, find inspiration in Frida Kahlo’s painting Weeping Coconuts (Cocos gimientes) and create your own unique three-dimensional shadow box at Communities Create LA! at A C Bilbrew Library on Tuesday, December 16, or learn to make three-dimensional pop-up cards at Lennox Library on Wednesday, December 17.
