This Week at LACMA

February 9, 2026

Celebrating the arrival of the World Cup in Los Angeles, Fútbol Is Life presents works by award‐winning animator and visual‐effects artist Lyndon J. Barrois, Sr., highlighting the artist’s inventive approach to storytelling and animation through his unique vision of the world’s most beloved sport. Explore the exhibition when it opens this Sunday, or see it during Member Previews, Thursday, February 12, through Saturday, February 14. Not a member? Join now.

LACMA members are also invited to join FILM at LACMA for two special in-person screenings of Academy Award–nominated films Bugonia and Come See Me in the Good Light on Monday, February 9. Followed by conversations with both film's directors, producers, and other collaborators, you won't want to miss these opportunities to hear directly from the filmmakers themselves ahead of this year's awards ceremony.

On Wednesday, February 11, educators are also invited to explore how slowing learning down and centering student voices can transform classrooms into ecosystems of care and creativity in this Co-Creating Knowledge: Centering Youth Voices in Ethnic Studies workshop. Led by ethnic studies educator Navia Itzia, you will learn practices to recognize and nurture each learner’s gifts, cultivating belonging and shared purpose in both classroom and community spaces through the lens of Ethnic Studies.
