Looking for plans for this Friday? LOVE at LACMA is our free Valentine’s Day party and everyone, date or not, is invited. Bring your friends, family members, partners, situationships, or just your love of art and come to the museum this Friday, February 14, from 3–8 pm, for an afternoon that honors love in all its forms. The event, hosted by DJ and filmmaker Vick Jagger, will include activities like keepsake crafting, a romantic photo booth by Las Fotos Project, musical chairs speed dating, and love song karaoke.

Of course, the museum will be open as usual, so you can wander through all our current exhibitions, from the wonders of the universe in Mapping the Infinite: Cosmologies Across Cultures, to the computer aesthetics of Digital Witness: Revolutions in Design, Photography, and Film, to the wellspring of artistic imagination in Imagining Black Diasporas: 21st-Century Art and Poetics. Don’t forget, admission to LACMA galleries is free for L.A. County residents on weekdays after 3 pm (including this Friday) with a valid ID.
Make sure to visit the Modern Art Galleries in BCAM, Level 3, where you can find a fittingly amorous Valentine’s Day moment that includes A-Yo’s Rainbow Heart (1965–67) next to David Hockney’s pair of lovers in California Copied From 1965 Painting in 1987 (1987) and Roy Lichtenstein’s ode to heartbreak, Cold Shoulder (1963).
If you’re still looking for something special to get your Valentine, the LACMA Store will be open so you can pick up some inspired gifts, from apparel like a vibrant red embroidered sweatshirt, to keepsakes like our hand-beaded LACMA bracelet developed in partnership with Otis Design Lab and the Haas Sisters, to books, catalogues, and prints celebrating your favorite works of art.
