Kamasi Washington by Vincent Haycock

This Week at LACMA

June 23, 2025

Be among the first to step inside LACMA’s new David Geffen Galleries and experience an unforgettable live performance by renowned composer, bandleader, and saxophonist Kamasi Washington, who will lead a monumental 100+ musician ensemble—many longtime collaborators from Los Angeles—in a sweeping activation of the building. This is your once-in-a-lifetime chance to experience the architectural spaces through the power of live music before artworks are installed ahead of the grand opening in April 2026. Though Friday and Saturday's performances are now sold out, tickets are still available for the performance on Thursday, June 26

LACMA members at the Partner level are also invited to a special preview and reception celebrating the Geffen Galleries on Sunday, June 29, when they can see how the building frames breathtaking new vistas of Los Angeles, experience how its materials celebrate and converse with light and space, and discover the extraordinary design details of Peter Zumthor's architectural wonder.
