This fall, LACMA published a special book, Painted in Mexico, 1700–1790: Pinxit Mexici, which accompanies a major exhibition that recently opened at LACMA. Over six years, four curators went on a journey through Mexico, Europe, and the United States in cars, buses, and small propeller planes, visiting over 100 churches, convents, public institutions, and private collections in more than 30 cities.

The result? A stunning book filled with new scholarship and images from an overlooked century, in both English and Spanish editions.
