Fashion, Film, and Falcons for Third Weekends at LACMA

July 14, 2026

It’s almost time for Third Weekends at LACMA! This month’s lineup of curated experiences features walkthroughs of our latest exhibitions, movement workshops in the galleries, and even a meet-and-greet with some local birds of prey.

Start on Thursday, July 16, at a walkthrough of Fashioning Chinese Women with the exhibition’s co-curator Nicole LaBouff, who will illuminate how Chinese and Chinese American women’s fashion has acted as a mirror for centuries of sweeping sociopolitical change while remaining an outlet for expression and self-identity. Then, dive into this season's film series inspired by the inaugural display of the new David Geffen Galleries, which explores networks of exchange around oceans and seas, at a screening of The Last of the Sea Women.

On Friday, July 17, curators Erin Maynes and Claire Spadafora Baes will discuss the works of print masters like Albrecht Dürer, exploring technique, craftsmanship, and innovation in early block printing at a gallery talk in the exhibition Deep Cuts. Of course, Friday also means Jazz at LACMA, and this week’s free concert features the Robert Rodriguez Quartet.

Begin your Saturday with a mindful movement session inside the Geffen Galleries, inspired by works in the building's Pacific section, taught by L.A. Dance Project. You can also drop in to a block printing workshop led by Self Help Graphics & Art to create your own artwork, or learn more about contemporary block printing at L.A. Print, Edition 15, featuring artists Alison Saar, Analia Saban, Monica Majoli, and Hopie Stockman Hill of Block Shop. There’s also a mahjong session, a Latin Sounds concert featuring the Lily H. Clark Quartet, and more.

Round off the week on Sunday, July 19, by learning qigong, the centuries-old system of movement focusing on breathing, posture, and mental clarity. And meet some of LACMA’s most unique staff members at Behind the Scenes: Falconry at LACMA.

As usual, you’ll also find free daily exhibition tours, family friendly activities at the Boone Children’s Gallery, and more every day, so check out our full schedule of everything happening July 16–18 for Third Weekends at LACMA.
