This Week at LACMA

October 6, 2024

We Live in Painting: The Nature of Color in Mesoamerican Art explores the science, art, and cosmology of color in Mesoamerica, following histories of colonialism and industrialization in the “color-averse” West that have minimized the deep significance of color in the Indigenous Americas.

This week, check out programs inspired by the exhibition. On Tuesday, October 8, join a docent-led tour with Pigment and Perspective: A Deep Dive into Mesoamerican Color. On Thursday, October 10, relax at an Art & Meditation session in the galleries. And on Sunday, October 13, bring the kids to Andell Family Sundays for free family-friendly crafts and activities.

This Tuesday, October 8, is also the first session of the three-part workshop series Vogue Inventions: The Art of Commanding Attention led by choreographer Becky Peach, who will explore the vibrant history and artistry of voguing at the Pieter Theater.
