This Weekend at LACMA

October 16, 2015
Ashley Harris, Marketing Manager

On Friday night, see the cinematic classic Metropolis at 7:30 pm. Part of the New Objectivity film series, tonight’s screening will feature a live musical accompaniment and original score by Michael Mortilla. The series continues on Saturday with a presentation of The Blue Angel at 7:30 pm. Experience intrigue from another era as an elderly professor's ordered life spins dangerously out of control when he falls for a nightclub singer.

Tonight at Jazz at LACMA, the Bill Cunliffe Trio performs live at 6 pm. For more live music, join us for Sundays Live for a piano performance by Petronel Malan. From the Mozarteum to Carngie Hall, Malan continues to enthrall audiences worldwide. At LACMA, she will perform Beethoven’s Piano Sonata Op. 27, No. 2 and Lowell Liebermann’s 4 Etudes, Op. 88.

Learn more about the museum at a special lecture, LACMA So Far. Suzanne Muchnic, a longtime art writer for the Los Angeles Times, talks with KCRW art critic Hunter Drohojowska-Philp in conjunction with the release of Muchnic's new book, LACMA So Far, which chronicles the history of the museum.

Join us for various free tours on Saturday and Sunday, including guided visits to the Frank Gehry, Noah Purifoy: Junk Dada, and New Objectivity: Modern German Art in the Weimar Republic, 1919-1933 exhibitions.

Bring the whole family for architecture-inspired activities at Andell Family Sundays. This free workshop is open to children and their families from 12:30 to 3:30 pm. Hope to see you here!
