This Weekend at LACMA

November 6, 2015
Katie Antonsson, USC Annenberg Journalism Fellow

Please note that there will be no Jazz at LACMA on Friday evening, and the museum will close early on Saturday! The west campus is closing at 1 pm, followed by the whole museum at 3 pm. But do come in the morning, especially for Studio Session: Intro to Relief Printmaking. Experiment with different printmaking techniques such as linoleum cut and woodcut. There are five sessions in all, beginning this weekend. In addition, Sunday hosts a Gallery Session: Drawing and Perception, a six-week course that focuses on drawing within the museum galleries.

On Sunday, head to the Bing Theater at 1 pm for a conversation and booksigning with author Nina Ansary and artist Shirin Neshat, whose work is featured in Islamic Art Now: Contemporary Art of the Middle East. The two will discuss women in Iran and Neshat's art, followed by a booksigning with Ansary for her new work, Jewels of Allah. For Sundays Live, come out to see Capitol Ensemble perform Brahms's Horn Trip Op. 40 in the Bing Theater at 6 pm. This evening event is free and open to the public.

If you're interested in seeing Rain Room, please remember to buy your tickets in advance! And please opt for sensible shoes—the floor of the installation will not accommodate high heels, or bare feet.
