This Weekend at LACMA

Spend some time this weekend exploring recently opened exhibitions—we have everything from fashion in menswear to a sublime retrospective of Agnes Martin to Robert Mapplethorpe's body of work.

Eric Reed comes to campus for Jazz at LACMA on Friday evening. Pianist Eric Reed has been a leader of many ensembles, as well as a solo performer, composer, producer, educator, and sideman. Reed's aesthetic scope navigates diverse terrain with intense focus and sagely concision. The performance begins at 6 pm in the BP Grand Entrance.

Sundays Live brings chamber ensembles from the Young Musicians Foundation to the Bing Theater. Founded in 1960, the chamber music program of the Young Musicians Foundation supports six ensembles, professional performance opportunities, and competition for young composers. The ensembles will perform works by Barber, Beethoven, Faure, and Poulenc. The performance begins at 6 pm.

For Mother's Day, families can enjoy an Andell Family Sundays workshop. Look at fashionable men from the 1700s in portraits throughout LACMA's European and American collections, then create paper accessories inspired by the works in an artist-led workshop.

Tours this weekend include Art of the Ancient World on Friday at 2 pm, America's Artistic Heritage on Saturday at 3 pm, and Art of China on Sunday at 3 pm.
