This Weekend at LACMA

Spend your Thanksgiving weekend surrounded by art and music guaranteed to get you in the holiday spirit.

Enjoy the last Jazz at LACMA concert of the year this Friday night with Kim Richmond, his septet, and special guest Kimberly Ford. Groove to Richmond’s sultry saxophone sounds with Urban Light as your backdrop and vibe out to an homage of classic works by Herbie Hancock and Joni Mitchell.

Take a free docent-led tour to learn more about exhibitions and artworks. Docents at LACMA are guides and educators who lead visitors on an exploration of diverse and engaging topics. This weekend’s tour lineup includes the exhibitions Sarah Charlesworth: Doubleworld, Playing with Fire: Paintings by Carlos Almaraz, and a close look at the Ardabil Carpet.

Step into Chagall: Fantasies for the Stage and surround yourself with vibrant costume and set designs. Chagall’s artistic practice was shaped by a love for the stage, shown through the musicians in his paintings, set designs for the Ballet Russes, and murals created for the Moscow State Jewish Theater.

Don’t forget to reserve your tickets for a special concert in conjunction with Chagall: Fantasies for the Stage. French pianist Mikhail Rudy and the LA Opera will perform works that complement the groundbreaking exhibition.
