This Weekend at LACMA

Victor Guzman, Marketing Coordinator

Dashing through L.A., in a quarter mile display, it's Rauschenberg: In and About L.A. and Rauschenberg: The 1/4 Mile, on view "all the way" through February 10 and June 9, respectively. Oh what fun you'll have visiting these two complementary exhibitions! Rauschenberg: In and About L.A. offers insights of the famed artist Robert Rauschenberg's early influences through his visits to Southern California, experimenting with the use of varied mediums and methods and embracing cross-cultural exchanges. Then take in Rauschenberg’s monumental The 1/4 Mile or 2 Furlong Piece, which exemplifies the tenets of his artistic practice. The installation includes 190 panels measuring about a quarter mile in length, comprising textiles, mass media images, photographs, paint, chairs, boxes, and traffic lights.

Also this weekend, the spirit of giving is in the air! For a very limited time, we are offering two gift memberships and get one free! Give a fellow art lover a 12-month membership to LACMA, including free admission to all exhibitions, invitations to member-only events, discounts at the LACMA Store, exclusive exhibition previews, and much more. This offer comes just in time for this weekend's Member Shopping Days from Friday, November 30, through Saturday, December 1. Members enjoy up to 20% off on a wide selection of items at the LACMA Stores and Art Catalogues, and 10% off food and non-alcoholic beverages at our on-campus dining locations including Ray's, C+M, and the LACMA Café.

This Sunday, December 2, at 1 pm, participate in a free workshop: On-Site—Monterey Park: Egyptian Amulets. Be sure to visit the Vincent Price Art Museum while you're in the area and enjoy Passing through the Underworld: Egyptian Art from the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) on view through December 8. Lastly, don't miss this week's Sundays Live with performances by the Colburn Youth Orchestra at 6 pm.
