What's that noise? Is it coming from the floorboards? Is it an over-acuteness of the senses? No, it's Christian Marclay: Sound Stories, on view through November 11. Experience Marclay's five immersive audiovisual installations that draw on the sounds and images of everyday life found on the multimedia messaging app Snapchat. Rooted in a sampling aesthetic fundamental to Marclay’s work, these installations respond to the storytelling available on Snapchat and visitors’ sounds and movements in the gallery space.

On Friday, October 18 at 2 pm, bring the little ones in your life to Story Time in the Galleries, where our friendly education staff in the Boone Children's Gallery will take them on an exciting reading journey. Then at 6 pm, enjoy a thrilling performance by the talented musician, gifted jazz pianist, composer, and arranger Hiroe Sekine at Jazz at LACMA.

On Saturday, October 19 at either 7:30 or 8:30 pm, LACMA members get the exclusive opportunity to join Spaces—A Sonic Experience by One Thousand Birds, a unique sound experience inspired by the meditative aspects of Mary Corse: A Survey in Light. One Thousand Birds presents a 45-minute experience inviting attendees on an auditory deep dive with attention to sensory detail and vibration further exploring how an invisible element can bring a profound connection to our visual world.

On Sunday, October 20, bring the whole family to Andell Family Sundays—Animals of the Land, Water, and Sky between 12:30 and 3:30 pm for tours of Every Living Thing: Animals in Japanese Art and art-making activities for all. Then at 6 pm, the music keeps on coming with a lively Sundays Live performance by the Ciaramella Early Music Ensemble at St. James' in-the-City. We hope you like the sound of that!
