Looking for some pre-Halloween plans? On Saturday, October 25, join us at LACMA for A Night of Ritual & Revelry, an after-hours celebration of art, culture, and plant-themed magic. The main event is a screening of the 1986 cult classic Little Shop of Horrors followed by a costume contest where you can strut your plant-powered look, hosted by the fabulous Meatball. Come dressed in your most magical botanical looks for the chance to win.
That’s not all: you can also enjoy after-hours access to select exhibitions open all evening, plus a slate of activities like a screen print workshop by Latinx with Plants, an artist-led activity inspired by the iconic Surrealist game exquisite corpse, and tarot reading by Sanyu Estelle. You’ll also want to carve out time for a ritual tea tasting and live flower sculpture-making led by Krystal Chang Projects. Wine, beer, and food will also be available for purchase from plant-based pop up MANEATINGPLANT, as will selections from the LACMA Store.
The event also coincides with the latest artwork to flower at LACMA: Split-Rocker, Jeff Koons’s massive sculpture currently being installed outside the David Geffen Galleries, which opens in 2026, is currently being “painted” with a colorful palette of over 45,000 drought-resistant plants.
A Night of Ritual & Revelry Featuring Little Shop of Horrors Hosted by Meatball takes place at LACMA on Saturday, October 25, 7–10 pm. Tickets are now available. If you’re in need of some inspiration for the plant-themed costume contest, here are just a few of the countless artworks in LACMA’s collection featuring prints, patterns, and looks taken from plants, flowers, and the natural world to get you started.
