Kicking off the weekend on Thursday, February 19, Japan Foundation’s Michael VanHartingsveldt and LACMA curator Stephen Little will lead a tour of the exhibition Realms of the Dharma: Buddhist Art Across Asia and discuss tools and techniques used to create captivating Buddhist sculptures and ink paintings. You won’t want to miss this opportunity to learn about the materials and processes used across centuries to create these captivating objects.

On Friday, February 20, step into the world of Impressionism and engage with movement, light, and shadow at our figure drawing workshop. You'll explore how artists like Edgar Degas captured rhythm, grace, and fleeting motion as you sketch ballet dancer Ishaun Jackson-Moaney in the galleries of Collecting Impressionism at LACMA. Then come channel the Parisian café culture of the exhibition on Saturday, February 21, at an outdoor game of chess under the guidance of instructors from En Passant.

On Sunday, February 22, visit LACMA for free as part of the annual SoCal Museums Free-for-All, when LACMA will be joining over 30 other local museums to offer free admission all day long! End the weekend on a high note by visiting the newly-opening SUEÑO PERRO: A Film Installation by Alejandro G. Iñárritu and Village Square: Gifts of Modern Art from the Pearlman Collection to the Brooklyn Museum, LACMA, and MoMA in addition to our other exhibitions currently on view.

To celebrate the opening of SUEÑO PERRO, you can hear from Iñárritu at a screening of his landmark Academy Award–nominated film Amores Perros (2000), followed by a conversation with LACMA director Michael Govan. You can also get an insider’s look at Village Square at a talk led by curator Alexandra Kaczenski.

As always, you’re also welcome to drop-in on any of our tours and family-friendly activities happening throughout the weekend, so we encourage you to take advantage of all that LACMA has to offer.
