It's puppies and rainbows this weekend at LACMA! This Saturday, August 18, at 3 pm, stop by for a free screening of Pick of the Litter. This film follows a litter of puppies from the moment they're born and begin their journey as guide dogs for the blind. The program includes a post-screening conversation with directors Dana Nachman and Don Hardy with their guide dogs.
Also waiting at the end of the rainbow is Mark Grotjahn's colorful 50 Kitchens, closing on Sunday, August 19. Come visit the vivid array of "Butterfly" compositions, which are the latest to come out of his studio and exhibited here at LACMA for the first time. Already popular as Instagram backdrops, these chromatic drawings can also be admired for their allusions to artists interested in color, light, and optics, such as Wassily Kandinsky and the Opt art painters of the 1960s.
Add more vibrancy to your weekend with Jazz at LACMA on Friday, August 17, at 6 pm, with a stellar performance by Will Brahm + Homenaje. La Victoria & Farofa bring the noise at Latin sounds on Saturday at 5 pm, with a beautiful blend of Mexican Folk music, seasoned with contemporary Chicana influences of Los Angeles and Brazilian sounds with an eclectic collection of world music scenes, respectively. Then on Sunday, August 19 at 6 pm, charismatic Pianist Rodolfo Leone plays a dazzling selection of works by Beethoven and Chopin at Sundays Live. See you soon!
